Yet Another D3.js Hello World

I don’t often work with the UI on software systems — I’m much more of a data structures / algorithms / math person. When I do work with a UI, it’s usually on a Web application.

Standard HTML5 works just fine for simple UI elements, but for fancy UI (especially animations), two possibilities are the processing.js library and the D3.js library.

I hadn’t looked at D3 for quite some time, so I coded up a quick Hello World demo to remind myself of the syntax.

The D3.js library seems to work at a lower level than the processing.js library. In general I prefer using D3.js to processing.js because D3.js is close to pure JavaScript, which I’m more familiar with, as opposed to the Processing language on which processing.js is based.
